Other organizations have missions closely aligned with AMA’s. One of those is the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
AMA member and former AMA Foundation board member John Langford, founder and CEO of Electra.aero, is an AIAA Fellow and its former president.
AIAA sponsors the Design, Build, and Fly competition, scheduled to be held in Wichita, Kansas, in April 2024. There’s still time for AMA members to participate; the entry period opens October 15, 2023.
This year’s competition included 875 participants among 99 teams. Fifteen countries from six continents were represented, making it one of the most prestigious events of its kind in aeromodeling.
