Camp AMA 2023 is a One-of-a-Kind Model Aviation Experience for the Coming Summer!

Even though springtime in the Midwest can bring unpredictable weather with it, here at the AMA headquarters in Muncie, Indiana, the warmer temperatures are always welcome because they mean that Camp AMA is just around the corner! The last two years of Camp have been huge successes, ones we are very excited to build on this year and share with our youth membership.

As in years past, Camp AMA is held at the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana, and this year's program will run from Sunday, June 11 through Saturday, June 17.

Camp AMA has always been a great opportunity for young aeromodelers from across the country to come together in friendship and a deeply shared appreciation for model aviation. Campers forge new relationships, deepen existing ones, and encounter opportunity after opportunity to learn something they didn't know before, whether it's kit-bashing, 3D flight, rotary-wing, soldering, jet turbine flying, aerial photography, or any number of other great avenues for exploration within the hobby!

As former attendees know, Camp AMA's instructors are world-class flyers with decades of cumulative experience in a wide variety of building and flying styles. This year we are very happy to announce that Santiago Perez and Ethan Ater will be returning as instructors! Santi and Ethan were a huge part of making Camp AMA 2022 a success and we can't wait to see what they have to share with our Campers this year.

This year we are also very excited to introduce some brand-new elements to Camp AMA! We're looking forward to a partnership with Ball State University in Muncie in order to offer a glimpse of the sort of campus life that awaits, should Campers choose to pursue a college career in a few years. But don't worry, this is still a summer camp, so there are no grades, professors, or reports...yet!

Not only that, but in the interest of broadening horizons and sharing memorable experiences, this year Camp AMA will include a field trip to the largest aviation museum in the country: the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio! Later in the week, Campers will get a hands-on introduction to control-line model aviation from experts who have been a part of our local model aviation community for decades.

There's really no model aviation summer experience quite like Camp AMA, and we have every confidence that 2023 is going to be our most successful and memorable year yet!
