The AMA created the Youth Leadership Award to celebrate the accomplishments of our Youth members. It is for Youth members who are out sharing the joy of the hobby with his or her community through volunteering at club fly-ins, encouraging his or her peers to get involved in aeromodeling, or helping other club members improve their piloting skills. Deserving individuals were nominated for this award by other club or community members. There was a winner for each AMA district selected. Those winners then went on to compete to be the national winner. The national recipient received a sponsorship to Camp AMA. The winner also received a plaque and his or her name will be added to the perpetual plaque that will be on display in the National Model Aviation Museum in Muncie, Indiana. The AMA proudly recognizes Hunter Jones as the 2015 national Youth Leadership Award winner. Hunter is a junior in high school. He in on the honor roll and plays varsity soccer. He has successfully started a MASC club in his school and worked with the school board to open up the gym for his RC club to be able to fly there. He is a member of the Flying Aces of Aurora in Aurora Ohio. The AMA would like to congratulate all of the Youth members who were nominated for this year’s award.
