This month I have some submissions from others to share.

District Associate Vice President (AVP) David Agar reported the following:

The Clark County Radio Control Society (CCRCS), in Clark County, Washington, held its Open House and RC Plane Experience on September 14. The day was met with typical Pacific Northwest rain. The rain stopped at about 10 a.m., and the instructor flights began for anyone who wanted an orientation flight. We also had a simulator set up for the entire day so that, even with the rain, we had flying happening all day long.

We cooked up some free hot dogs for lunch, and then we held a raffle. All of the raffle prizes were donated by the membership, and AMA gave us a HobbyZone AeroScout for the raffle. Every participant under the age of 18 left with an airplane.

A huge thanks goes out to AMA and all of the club members who helped to put on this event.

AVP Joe Miller sent in this one:

The Salem R/C Pilots Association, of Turner, Oregon, hosted the 27th Annual Gathering of G.A.M.E. (Giant Aircraft Modeler Enthusiasts) event at Turner Field. There were plenty of pilots on hand; 24 registered and took to the sky with a variety of aircraft. Since this was a fun-fly, it didn’t matter what size aircraft you brought—you were able to fly. A lot of these events are a time for old friends to enjoy each other’s company and to talk and admire their airplanes. This was a three-day event with several pilots who camped out.

Martin Booth, the secretary/treasurer of the Eugene RC Aeronauts, Inc., submitted the last one:

On October 18-19, the Eugene RC Aeronauts (eugenerc.org), in Eugene, Oregon, had the opportunity to display some models and do some outreach at an open house event put on by the Soaring by the Sea Foundation (soaringbythesea.com), based at Eugene Airport.

The Foundation has a PBY-5A Catalina, a P-40 Warhawk, and a recently acquired A-1 Skyraider. The hangar was opened to the public for the weekend, and our club was given the opportunity to have a corner of the hangar. We had a number of airplanes on display, a simulator set up, and some AMA merchandise and brochures available for attendees, who showed a lot of interest, including a large number of families whose kids loved trying out the simulator.

That’s all for this month. There is much more on the horizon—stay tuned. Keep building and flying.

Phil Tallman

Vice President

amadistrictxi@modelaircraft.org

Hi all.
