Hi all. Another month has quickly gone by. I have submissions from several sources to share.
District XI Associate Vice President (AVP) Joe Miller wrote the following:
It was a great day for flying at the 7th annual Winter Build Challenge that was held at Turner Field, the home of the Salem RC Pilots Association in Turner, Oregon. There were 12 registered pilots and 14 aircraft that were all scratch-built, kit-built, ARFs, or repaired. This was a maiden contest; the aircraft could not have flown before the competition. There were only two mishaps that were because of pilot errors, but the aircraft will live to see another flight.
The overall winner was Arron Dominguez with his 85-inch wingspan P-47 that was powered with an electric motor. He also won the Static category. Other winners of the event included John DeGaetano, who received the first-prize Flight Award, and Dan Anderson, who won the Unique and Fan Favorite Awards.
After the competition, there was food and a lot of camaraderie.

The 2026 District XI Jamboree was held at Kingery Field in Yoncalla, Oregon, and was hosted by the Umpqua Valley Modelers of Roseburg, Oregon. The event’s contest director, Chuck Johnson, took care of registration, raffle ticket sales, pilots’ briefings, and on-site concessions. District XI AVPs David Agar, Joe Miller, Tom Rainwater, and Mike Ingram attended the event. Kingery Field features a 420- × 60-foot fabric runway and a picturesque overfly area. I commend the club for putting on a well-run and attended event.
Chris Adamski, of the Marymoor RC Club in Redmond, Washington, sent in this report:
I wanted to share with you and your team how much of a wild success our RC air show was on June 27! People started arriving right at 10 a.m., and we had steady crowds all day until our last performance at approximately 3 p.m.! So many people came that we ran out of parking; a lot of them had to use overflow parking elsewhere in the park. We had hundreds of people from the general public come and visit us throughout the day to see our huge line of static displays and to watch our packed schedule of RC flying demonstrations.
With the success of this event in our first year, we anticipate it to be even bigger next year! For some more context, we repurposed our summer open house event to be more of a public-facing air show-style event. Please watch for it next year.
