For many of us <\/span>here in the Midwest,\u00a0daylight saving time symbolizes the\u00a0start of the flying season. With that\u00a0said, as I write this, flying season is only\u00a0a couple of weeks away. I wish I could\u00a0say I was ready.<\/p>\n

I hope by now that your batteries\u00a0have been cycled, your thumbs are\u00a0limbered up, and you are making it\u00a0regularly to your club field to get a\u00a0lot of stick time in with your favorite\u00a0airplanes.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s my pleasure to introduce and\u00a0welcome a couple of new volunteers\u00a0to our district team. First is Associate\u00a0Vice President (AVP) Leo Rodriguez.\u00a0Leo recently relocated from District\u00a0III where he served as an AVP for\u00a0District III, to South Bend, Indiana. He\u00a0has a long history in model aviation,\u00a0and works in the full-scale aviation\u00a0industry.<\/p>\n

Next is Steve Ort. Steve has\u00a0volunteered as the District VI Contest\u00a0Coordinator for RC and Control Line.\u00a0Steve has taken over for Mitch Baker.<\/p>\n

If you see either of these men at the\u00a0field or an event, please take a moment\u00a0to introduce yourself to them and\u00a0thank them for the work they are doing\u00a0for the district. I would like to also\u00a0thank Mitch who served as our district\u00a0contest coordinator throughout the\u00a0past few years.<\/p>\n

On a cold weekend in February, I\u00a0can\u2019t think of a better place to be than\u00a0E-Fest. It is one of the largest indoor\u00a0flying events in the US. It is held at\u00a0a facility called the Armory, part of\u00a0the University of Illinois, in Urbana-Champaign.\u00a0Hobbico hosts this event and Frank\u00a0Noll serves as its contest director.\u00a0While there, I enjoyed visiting with\u00a0a lot of District VI members, helping\u00a0with the simulators at the Hobbico\u00a0drone flight school, and generally had a\u00a0great time. Enjoy the photos.<\/p>\n
