AMA District VI News November 2026

Brian Stark reported that the Lake Ozark Radio Control Society hosted its annual Cancer Benefit Fly-In in Eldon, Missouri.

We raised a new record of $7,150 for the American Cancer Society. Forty-one pilots registered and enjoyed a fantastic day of flying. A large raffle and auction, featuring several new, in-the-box aircraft and other high-quality prizes, significantly boosted raffle ticket sales and donations.

The event united model aviation enthusiasts and the community, demonstrating their commitment to supporting cancer research and patient services through a shared passion and generosity. This event continues to be a success because of the time and dedication of those who not only participate but also help to organize and operate it.

Rege Hall shared that the Blacksheep RC Modelers in Danville, Indiana, celebrated National Model Aviation Day this year.

The day started with three of our veterans raising the American flag as the national anthem played. We had club members and pilots from neighboring clubs. The sky and wind were favorable for flying. We had airplanes from small foamies to large warbirds and turbine-powered jets.

The spectators enjoyed demonstration flights from turbine jets, 3D helicopters, and warbirds. For the youngsters in attendance, we performed several candy and parachute drops; each youngster got to take a parachute home with them. We also had our flight simulator and several trainer flights for aspiring pilots. More than $4,000 was raised for the Helping Veterans and Families of Indiana organization (hvafofindiana.org).

Jeremy Church sent in a report on the Jasper RC Flyers’ Annual Fun-Fly in Jasper, Indiana.

The Annual Fun-Fly brought together 24 registered pilots and approximately 65 spectators for a day of flying and camaraderie. Pilots traveled from Owensboro and Henderson, Kentucky, as well as Evansville, Washington, and Bloomington, Indiana, to join the Jasper club.

Activities included open flying, an impromptu streamer Combat flight, a candy drop for kids, and buddy-box flying. The event has been a Jasper RC Flyers tradition for at least 20 years. Events such as this give clubs an opportunity to bring pilots together, introduce people to the hobby, and keep the camaraderie of model aviation strong throughout District VI.

District VI Associate Vice President John Fischer reported the following:

I was invited to attend the Suburban Aero Club (SAC) of Chicago’s promotion of AMA’s National Model Aviation Day. The event was well attended by both pilots and spectators. Roughly 38 pilots were in attendance.

The weather cooperated with a sunny sky and a slight crosswind at 5-10 mph. As you can see from the pictures, SAC members and spectators had a terrific time. My thanks to the SAC club and organizer Devin Tornow for organizing and inviting me to this event.

Remember, to see your club in print, send me pictures and a short article. Email it to amadistrictvi@modelaircraft.org. Keep in mind that the pictures must be at least 500 KB stand-alone JPG files.
