As promised<\/span>, I want to highlight\u00a0what makes District V great. Most\u00a0of the time it\u2019s like any other great\u00a0production\u2014it\u2019s the people behind the\u00a0scenes. They are the people you never\u00a0see, but they are there every step of\u00a0the way, making appearances, feeding\u00a0information, and answering questions.\u00a0Because our district is so big, this will\u00a0take a few columns, but I would like to\u00a0take time to introduce all our associate\u00a0vice presidents (AVPs). Here is a little\u00a0bit about some of these individuals\u00a0behind the scenes. When you see them\u00a0out at the flying fields, say hey, ask\u00a0your questions, and enjoy flying!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Bob Dixon, Georgia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Bob Dixon<\/strong>, Georgia AVP, specializes\u00a0in Control Line (CL) and RC. He is\u00a0a member of the CL Contest Board\u00a0and is a Leader Member and Contest\u00a0Director (CD). He has been an AMA\u00a0member for 52 years.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Nick Ray, Georgia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nick Ray<\/strong>, Georgia AVP, specializes\u00a0in Indoor FF. He has been an AMA\u00a0member since 2003 and is the current\u00a0US F1D team manager.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Don Wise, South Carolina.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Don Wise<\/strong>, South Carolina AVP,\u00a0has been an AMA member for\u00a0approximately 35 years. He is a CD\u00a0and Leader Member. Don enjoys all\u00a0types of models and flying and has\u00a0flown RC Aerobatics for several years.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Red Scholefield, Florida.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Red Scholefield<\/strong> is the District V safety\u00a0coordinator and resides in Florida. He\u00a0started modeling in the early 1940s\u00a0with rubber-powered and hand-launch\u00a0models. After three years in the Air\u00a0Force, Red joined the AMA in the early\u00a01950s. He has served as a CD and in\u00a0various club officer positions including\u00a0president, secretary, treasurer, safety\u00a0officer, and newsletter editor. Red has\u00a0flown CL, Free Flight (FF), and RC.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Keith Hall, Florida.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Keith Hall<\/strong> serves as an AVP in Florida\u00a0and is the vice president of the Triple\u00a0Creek RC club in Riverview, Florida.\u00a0He has flow RC for more than 50 years\u00a0and joined AMA in 1980. Keith is\u00a0generally a sport flier and has started\u00a0getting involved in electric power\u00a0during the past couple of years.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Andrew Griffith, Florida.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Andrew Griffith is an AVP in Florida.\u00a0He has been an AMA member\u00a0since 1978 and has served as the\u00a0vice president of the RC Club of\u00a0Jacksonville for the past six years. He\u00a0is a contributing author for Model\u00a0Aviation, Fly RC, and RC Heli Pilot.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Rick Grim, Alabama AVP, is a CD,\u00a0Leader Member, Large Model Aircraft\u00a0Inspector, and an AMA Life Member.\u00a0\u201cI am a retired Navy E-9 with 22 years\u00a0of service. I recently retired from a 20-\u00a0year career in the UAV industry as a\u00a0chief pilot. I am a member in both of\u00a0my local flying clubs.
