The following report comes from\u00a0<\/span>District V Associate Vice President\u00a0Don Wise.<\/p>\n

On February 20, 2016, the Flying\u00a0Tigers of Scranton, South Carolina, held\u00a0a combination fly-in, swap shop, and\u00a0chili cook-off. With two flightlines, the\u00a064 pilots had plenty of room for flying.<\/p>\n

With partly cloudy skies and\u00a0temperatures in the upper 50s to low\u00a060s, it was a pleasant day. The aircraft\u00a0ranged from small electrics to turbine powered\u00a0airplanes.<\/p>\n

The Flying Tigers had free drawings\u00a0for the youngsters and a raffle for more\u00a0than $5,000 worth of RC aircraft and\u00a0accessories for everyone else. Tony\u00a0Tuner was the event contest director\u00a0who made sure things ran smoothly\u00a0and the club members made the guests\u00a0feel welcome.<\/p>\n

The 2016 Southeastern Model\u00a0Show, hosted by the Georgia Aircraft\u00a0Modelers Association, Inc., in Perry,\u00a0Georgia, was well attended this year by\u00a0thousands of modelers and hundreds of\u00a0vendors. I believe this was one of the\u00a0best trade shows I\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n

The AMA had a booth where\u00a0representatives answered questions,\u00a0renewed memberships, and sold the\u00a0latest AMA merchandise. This year\u00a0District V held its first\u2014and what I\u00a0would call successful\u2014membership\u00a0meeting on the Saturday morning of\u00a0the show. Nearly 100 people attended.<\/p>\n

AMA President Bob Brown\u00a0gave an insightful FAA regulations\u00a0summary. Ilona Maine, director of\u00a0Safety and Member Benefits at AMA\u00a0Headquarters, explained our insurance\u00a0coverage and answered questions about\u00a0field and member coverage alongside\u00a0Flying Site Assistance Coordinator and\u00a0Technical Director Tony Stillman.<\/p>\n

To cap it off, a BNF T-28, donated\u00a0by BL Prosser from Helen\u2019s Hobbies,\u00a0was given away as a door prize. The\u00a0meeting was a great success<\/p>\n
