Members of the Spillway Radio Control Club located in Norco, Louisiana can say they are truly addicted to the hobby of model aviation. Club member, Jerry Mollere, said, \u201cI admit, I\u2019m hooked on this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club has around 65 members who all enjoy spending time together and, of course, flying their model airplanes. A large variety of aircraft can be seen on the field on any given day. Members have all types of aircraft from Mustangs to Mitchell B-25 bombers to Russian Yak-34s and many other models in-between.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s field, Bleakley Field, which was named in honor of a late club president, is located on the edge of the Mississippi river in the pit of the Bonnet Carre Spillway. The club is one of around 15 in the state of Louisiana.<\/p>\n
The Spillway R\/C Club recently hosted their eighth annual Memorial Day program to honor the military. \u201cWe had planes from different eras: World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam. It was a beautiful event on a beautiful day,\u201d said Jacobs, a model aviation flyer and Kenner resident.<\/p>\n
