The Central Arizona Modelers (CAM) of Sedona, Arizona recently hosted activities in conjunction with the local Civil Air Patrol units for the first time. Cadets and staff of Verde Valley Composite Squadron 205 of Sedona, and Cadet Squadron 212 of Cottonwood, joined many of the CAM members for a day of learning about model aviation.
The cadets spent the day learning about CAM, the AMA, and how RC models work. In small teams of 10, the cadets put together small free flight models, tested them, and then each team explained to the group what they had learned about these models. After a turbine ground demonstration, the cadets enjoyed buddy box time with CAM members and ended the day with lunch. “It was a fun day for all and a great chance to sic the modeling bug on some young people,” said Hal Jordan CAM Vice-President.
