Dozens of members of the Alvin RC Model Airplane Association will be flying planes at the Alvin Jumbo Squadron 23rd annual Big Bird Fly-In and ninth annual Swap Meet on March 30 at the Alvin R/C Club Field at 2444 County Road 180 in Alvin.
The public is invited at no charge to watch the airplanes.
Marty Robinson, and avid modeler since the age of 12, said this event is fascinating for the public because it involves large airplanes, which are generally associated with more experienced pilots due to the complexity and cost involved.
The Alvin association is a chartered club with the Academy of Model Aeronautics and all club members and event participants must be current AMA members. All pilots must show proof of membership and at all times abide by the AMA rules in addition to the association’s flight rules and any specific event rules.
