Our sponsors will help us to continue to increase awareness for model aviation with promotion of this celebratory event, and will also help us to raise more money for the Wounded Warrior Project; this year’s chosen charity of support.
In the event’s first year, 176 registered clubs worked together to raise $76,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, and garnered a great amount of attention for the hobby. Many clubs were featured on their local news stations, in local newspapers, and some clubs went the extra mile to work with their respective state governments to receive a state proclamation for the date.
We believe this year’s event will be even bigger! Our chartered clubs (approximately 2,350) have been encouraged to participate by holding model aviation events/fundraisers in their communities and to share the fun of model flying with everyone in attendance. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project to assist them in their mission to provide programming for wounded veterans.
